Manga-ka Mick Takeuchi has agreed to attend Anime Expo 2006.  With both CLAMP (see 'CLAMP at Anime Expo') and Ms. Takeuchi as official Guests of Honor it looks like this year's Anime Expo (July 1-4) could  turn into a 'shoujo summit.'   Go! Comi, which publishes Ms. Takeuchi's popular series, Her Majesty's Dog, is sponsoring her appearance at Anime Expo in Anaheim.

As ICv2 reported in the new Retailers Guide to Manga #14, the growth in the popularity of shoujo (girls') manga has been especially evident in the first quarter of 2006, and Takuechi's Her Majesty's Dog, a supernatural romance about a shy transfer student and her protector, a hot-looking demon who can only survive on her tender kisses, is typical of the quirky, genre-melding shoujo series that have found favor with manga's growing female audience here in the States.

Other Anime Expo Guests of Honor include Full Metal Alchemist director, Seiji Mizushima and American voice actors Vic Mignogna ('Broly' in DBZ) and Laura Bailey ('Young Trunks' in DBZ, 'Lust' in Full Metal Alchemist, and 'Sana' in Kodocha).

Retailers can expect press and consumer interest in these creators and their work as a result of these appearances.
