Brad Wright, the co-executive producer of the Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis TV series, told the Sci Fi Channel's Sci Fi Wire that there were a number of new Stargate projects in the works including a movie, a third TV series, and a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG).   Wright noted that the Stargate property, which began with a feature film in 1994, was 'the second largest franchise for MGM next to Bond.'

The Stargate SG-1 television series, which debuted on Showtime in 1996 and switched to the Sci Fi Channel in 2002 will soon become the longest-running science fiction series in the history of American TV.
