The latest from Larry Gonick's series of cartoon histories, The Cartoon History of the Modern World, Part 1 hits in October.  This first volume of the two volume trade paperback series takes Gonick's hilariously irreverent styling and focuses upon the founding of America from Columbus to the writing of the Constitution.

Modern World comes as a 278 page trade paperback that sports a $17.95 MSRP.  Gonick is certain to court controversy and large sales much like his last comic history that focused on the rise of Arabia to the Renaissance (see 'ICv2 News - Cartoon History Flies Under Comic Shop Radar').

Gonick's entire Cartoon Guide series numbers 11 volumes and has sold more than 750,000 copies worldwide.
