Warner Home Video has announced that a new license for Ridley Scott's science fiction masterpiece Blade Runner has been signed, and that yet another Scott re-cut of the film will be released theatrically and on DVD.

But before all that, the restored and remastered 1992 Director's Cut will be released on DVD in September for a four-month limited window, after which it will be placed on moratorium.

Then in 2007, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film's release on June 25th, 1982, Blade Runner: The Final Cut, Scott's new version, will receive a limited theatrical release in select major U.S. cities.  A four-version DVD set will also be released, containing The Final Cut, the Original U.S. Theatrical Cut, the Expanded International Theatrical Cut, and the 1992 Director's Cut, plus bonus features.

With a great script based on a novel by Philip K. Dick, with an all-star cast that included Harrison Ford, SeanYoung, Edward James Olmos, Rutger Hauer, and Daryl Hannah, and with art direction that still looks great a quarter-century later, this film has long been a favorite of both cinephiles and science fiction buffs.  Both of the new products, but especially the multi-cut set, are going to be popular with consumers that shop at pop culture stores.
