Up from 33,000

Anime Expo attendance is expected to go up to at least 40,000-47,000 this year, according to a convention spokesperson.  Roughly the midpoint of that range would be about a 1/3 increase from 2005's 33,000 attendees, a 3/4 increase from 2004's 25,000, and 2.5 times 2003's 17,000.

Attendance this year is being powered by the first American appearance of manga supergroup CLAMP (see 'CLAMP at Anime Expo') and other strong guests such as Mick Takeuchi (see 'Mick Takeuchi at Anime Expo').
