According to Home Media Retailing Sony Pictures' Home Entertainment has shipped 1.4 million copies of the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children DVD in the U.S. and Europe.  Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children debuted at #2 on the VideoScan DVD sales chart (see 'Final Fantasy VII #2 on DVD Charts') and ICv2 ranked it as the #1 anime release of 2006 so far in the Retailers Guide To Anime/Manga #15, which will be released at Anime Expo.

According to the Anime News Network, Final Fantasy IP rights holder Square Enix has announced that 2.4 million Advent Children DVDs have been shipped worldwide, which means that it could possibly challenge the all-time single year sales record for an anime release set by the Animatrix, which sold 2.7 million copies in 2003.
