Boondocks: The Complete First Season DVD debuted at #7 on the VideoScan list of best-selling DVDs (by units) for the week ending July 30th.  The DVD set based on the popular comic strip by Aaron McGruder managed to outperform a number of other new releases including Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and JAG: The Complete First Season.  The only TV-related release that bested the Boondocks was Chappelle's Show: The Lost Episodes.

The Boondocks animated series, which is produced by McGruder and Black Panther scribe Reginald Hudlin, has been renewed for a second season on the Cartoon Network (see 'The Boondocks Renewed for Second Season').  Both direct market and bookstore sales of McGruder's Boondocks collections have increased since the animated Boondocks series debut on the Cartoon Network last October.
