Inkworks has announced that it will be producing trading cards for the third film in the hugely popular Shrek series, Shrek the Third.  The first film in the series earned a potent $267 million domestically and $484 million worldwide, but Shrek 2 almost doubled those totals by raking in $441.2 million on the home front and coming within sniffing distance of a billion with $920 million globally.  Inkworks has not yet announced any of the chase cards for the Shrek the Third series, but has indicated that it will release the cards in April in plenty of time for retailers to profit from the animated blockbuster, which opens May 18th.

In February Inkworks will release Veronica Mars: Season Two Trading Cards, based on the smartest continuing series on network television -- a 'Nancy Drew meets The Outsiders' detective show that deftly mixes long form and episodic mysteries and features the best wisecracking sleuth since Raymond Chandler's Phillip Marlowe, a petite blonde with a mind like a well-stropped straight razor.  A favorite of pop culture cognoscenti like Stephen King, Kevin Smith and Joss Whedon, Veronica Mars was one of the few UPN series to make it to the new CW network, an amalgamation of the WB and UPN skeins.
