Image Comics has announced the April release of the first issue in a series based on Frank Frazetta's famous series of six Death Dealer paintings.  When first announced a year ago (see 'Image Plans 'Death Dealer' Comic') Steve Niles was named as the writer of the series, but as it turns out novelist and comic book writer Joshua Ortega (The Necromancer, Star Wars) is writing the new Image series, which will feature art by Nat Jones (Spawn: The Dark Ages) and Jay Fotos (Spawn '68).  The first issue will feature variant covers by Nat Jones, Jay Fotos, and Frank Frazetta.

Industry veterans will remember that Glenn Danzig's Verotik Comics published a four-issue Death Dealer comic in the mid 1990s, but this time Frazetta himself is approving each stage of the comic's production.  Frank Frazetta's Death Dealer #1 will have a cover price of $3.99.
