Rich Lukes of Comic Collector in Riverside, Illinois saw a Talk Back comment on Kevin Smith's late work for Marvel (see 'Andy Grieco of Collector's Clubhouse on Marvel and Kevin Smith') and concurs:

I wanted to echo my annoyance of the lateness of the two Kevin Smith comic books.  It just shows a lack of professionalism and respect for the retailers and our customers.  Also, we the retailer will feel the ire the most, because most customers won't blame Kevin or Marvel for the lateness.  They will look at the retailer as if it is our fault and that we should some make these books appear from thin air.

What's even more irritating is at least when this was happening with Image books, Image made attempts to correct the problem.  Marvel, on the other hand, seems like they couldn't be bothered by this.  So long as there 'mass market' books are selling well seems like they could care less if any one book interferes with there plans or how it affects the comic retailers or any specific fans of a book.
