August Comics & GNs Up 10% Over '03

Diamond's sales of comics and graphic novels to North American comic stores were up 10% in August vs. August 2003, with graphic novels up 22% and 'floppies' up 8%. Marvel led the way, with a 24% increase in dollars over 2003. DC was also up, but by a more modest 8%. The other two publishers in the Big Four, Dark Horse and Image, were both down. Dark Horse was down 4% compared to the year ago period, while Image tumbled 48% vs. August 2003.
