Under the terms of an agreement announced today, Scott Christian Sava's Blue Dream Studios will become an imprint of IDW Publishing.  Sava's background is in animation production and he had worked on both conventional TV animation (Spider-Man) and on animation for video games before changing direction and launching a self-publishing comic book operation that specialized in creating all-ages comics.  Sava's The Dreamland Chronicles, which appears online where it has garnered over 4 million unique readers, won the Comic Book Resources Fan Poll as "Best Graphic Novel of 2007."  So far Sava has published two graphic novel size Dreamland Chronicles collections with a third due for publication this year.

Another Blue Dream Studios comic series, Pet Robots, has been optioned by Disney (see "Disney Leashes Pet Robots"), while MTV has secured the rights to Blue Dream's Hyperactive.  Other Blue Dream Studios properties include Ed's Terrestrials, Dino Wars, Gary the Pirate, and the forthcoming My Grandparents Are Secret Agents.

This agreement should work well for both companies.  IDW gets a potent all-ages imprint, while Blue Dream Studios will get the benefit of IDW's resources in production and distribution.
