With Andrew Cosby, the co-creator of Sci Fi Channel’s Eureka series, as one of the co-founders of Boom! Studios (see “Mark Waid Named EIC”), you had to think eventually it would happen, and now it has:  Boom! Studios will launch a Eureka comic series in December.  The comic will be co-written by Cosby and Brendan Hay (Daily Show, The Simpsons, Frank TV), with art by Diego Barreto and cover art by J.K. Woodward.

The series will take place between season 1 and season 2 of the series, “season 1.5,” when “Nathan Stark is still alive,” according to Cosby who appeared with Ed Quinn, who played Stark, in a video to promote the series.  Cosby also said that the comic series would be followed by an “online series” written by series star Colin Ferguson, who plays the sheriff in the series.

The TV series is currently in a hiatus between two parts of its third season, bifurcated because of the writer’s strike.  Eight episodes were shown this past summer, another 13 will be aired sometime next year.  DVD sets for the first two seasons are available.
