Wizards of the Coast has announced the upcoming release of a Heroscape:  Dungeons and Dragons Master Set and expansions (“waves”) next year. A WotC rep confirmed that a master set and first wave for the game would arrive in Spring 2010 with future waves to come later.

The Master Set will come with 50 terrain pieces and 10 figures and is designed for two players (most Heroscape Master Sets are for four players); the contents of the first wave is yet unknown. No MSRP was announced.

Originally produced by Wizards’ parent company Hasbro under its Milton Bradley banner, Heroscape went over to WotC management in early 2008 (see “Heroscape Brand Goes to WotC”). The game was originally designed as a kind of mass-market or youth-targeted miniatures game with pre-painted minis and customizable terrain, and was supported by print advertising and television commercials.  WotC has expanded hobby channel distribution for the game.
