Gary Games has announced the June release of Ascension: Return of the Fallen (MSRP $29.99), the first expansion for the popular deck-building game Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer.  The 65-card Ascension: Return of the Fallen Expansion is playable as a stand-alone game for 2 players, or it can be combined with Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer for an expanded game with up to six players. With its 65 all-new cards for the Center Deck,   the Revenge of the Fallen Expansion provides players with the ability to face the God Samael in a final battle to determine the fate of Vigil. It also includes a new Fate mechanic that can change the game with a single flip of a card.

The category of deck-building games, which allow players to enjoy the benefits of a complex combat-focused card game experience without having to chase powerful randomly distributed, blindly-packaged cards, has been experiencing major growth. Gary Games has sold over 15,000 copies of Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer since the game was released in August of 2010.  Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer revolves around a Center Deck containing Heroes, Constructs, and Monsters. Players take turns recruiting Heroes or Constructs for their decks or defeating Monsters to earn honor and ultimate victory.

The June release of Ascension: Return of the Fallen comes just a month after the digital launch of Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer as an iOS app for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch (see “Ascension Comes to iOS”) in May. Return of the Fallen itself will be available later this year as an in-app purchase.
