Mayfair Games, which expanded its participation in Gen Con significantly this year (see “Mayfair to Sponsor Gen Con”), incorporated several new Catan licensees (see “Mayfair Announces ‘Catan’ Licensees”) in its area of the exhibit floor. The Mayfair display area was the largest presence on the floor, up from its significant presence in the past.  Mayfair had already been a major player at Gen Con (for example last year, see “Gen Con Opens Large”).
Vikings Catan Game Set
Silver Fox Productions (parent of RAFM) showed off its new Settlers of Catan Game Piece Sets at the show, kicking off with the Vikings Catan Game Set. Each pewter set will feature settlements, roads, and cities from a particular culture. Up after the Vikings are the Chinese Catan Game Set, the Egyptian Catan Game Set, and the Bavarian Catan Game Set. Each set includes 15 Roads, four Cities, five Settlements, and one Robber. The Vikings Catan Game Set will street in September at a $30 MSRP. The other sets will follow at a rate of one per quarter.
The new official Settlers of Catan tables from Table of Catan were also at the show. The top of the line is the oak version, pictured here, which retails for $390. The Amish-crafted tables offer inset space for the game board, cards, pieces, and drink holders. Other versions include birch and color-stained birch at $290. Table of Catan also displayed its Traveler Series, a portable birch version that folds up into a handy carrying case ($199), and Dice Tray, which keeps dice from knocking the pieces around on the table ($22.95).
13 Sheep = 1 House
Offworld Designs was displaying its new Mayfair-licensed t-shirts at the show, including designs for Settlers of Catan, Settlers of America, Empire Builders, and Bob & Angus, Mayfair’s new Youtube sensation.

Mayfair was also showing off its latest Catan Goodies item—the Robbers set. Catan Goodies were introduced last year (see “Catanimals”), and are being expanded with this set, which is out now as a set of three.
In addition to these new elements, Mayfair continued its massive demo programs, the Great Mayfair Ribbon Quest, the Training Grounds, and the Mayfair Pages and Squires program. Mayfair also hosted the North American Catan Championships, which were held at the show.
