James Marsden has signed on to play a navy commander in Universal’s adaptation of BOOM! Comics’ 2 Guns, an archetypal noir saga adapted seamlessly to the present day by writer Steven Grant and artist Mat Santolouco.  Marsden joins Mark Wahlberg (see "Wahlberg Ready to Strap on '2 Guns'") and Denzel Washington, who will play the film’s two major protagonists, a pair of undercover agents who target what they think is a mob bank, but later find out is actually a CIA-funded institution.

According to Variety, Balthasar Kormakur is directing Universal’s adaptation of Two Guns from a script by Blake Masters.  BOOM! Studio’s Ross Richie is one of a gaggle of producers on the project, which began when Universal optioned the comic back in 2008 (see "Universal Straps on '2 Guns'").
