According to today's Variety, Ashley Judd, who has been attached to the Catwoman movie for the past two years, has bowed out of the production, opting instead to play 'Maggie the Cat' in a Broadway revival of Tennessee William's Cat On a Hot Tin Roof. Variety speculates that Judd may have been piqued by a report that Warners asked Nicole Kidman to play the title role in Catwoman.
Apparently Catwoman now has everything but a star. The French director Pitof is set to helm the picture (see 'Catwoman Gets a Director'), and the script has evidently been rewritten to Warner Bros. satisfaction, but unless Nicole Kidman does agree to play Selina Kyle, this project, which was reportedly very close to production, may make a return trip to 'developmental hell.'
