Warner Bros. has announced that actress Gal Gadot, best known for her role in the Fast & Furious movies, has been cast as Wonder Woman for Batman vs. Superman

The Israeli-born actress appeared as Gisele in Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6, and also won Miss Israel in 2004. In addition to her acting and modeling career, she also spent two years as a sports trainer in the Israel Defense Forces.

Gadot joins Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavil as Superman for director Zack Snyder’s sequel to Man of Steel.  Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane will also reprise their supporting roles (see "'Batman vs. Superman' Will Be Filmed in Michigan").  Batman vs. Superman will be released on July 17, 2015.

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," Snyder said in the press release.  "Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role.  We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."

Warners has long been trying to bring Wonder Woman to the fore (see "Warners Has 'Huge Plans' for 'Other DC Properties'"), and they’ve now chosen a high profile platform to do so.
