Though T3:  Rise of the Machines, the third installment in the Terminator series, will be accompanied by the usual avalanche of action figures, comics, trading cards, and more (see 'Best in Shows 2003,' 'Comic Images Plans Art, TV, Movie Cards,' 'MacFarlane Toys' Terminator 3 Figures,' and 'Beckett Publications Acquires 'T3' License'), some high-end merchandise will also be offered to reflect the older audience due to the R-rating, according to Variety. Some examples:  a Toyota Tundra pickup with special T3 accessory package for $5,600; limited edition Indian motorcycles for $27,000; three versions of the leather jacket Schwarzenegger wears in the film, ranging from $200 to $4,000; T3 Sama Eyewear sunglasses, running $175; and Audemar Piguet watches selling for $20,000.

The 1991 film ­­T2:  Judgment Day is the most successfully merchandised R-rated movie ever, with over $1 billion dollars in merchandise sales, not including video, DVD, or soundtracks, so it will be difficult for T3 to match its predecessor.  This upscale merchandise is one way to maximize the merchandising opportunities associated with the new film.
