At Wizard World Philadelphia Top Cow's Matt Hawkins announced that FUNimation Productions has acquired North American rights to the Witchblade anime series, created by Gonzo Digimation and based on the Top Cow comic book property.  When contacted by ICv2 to confirm the acquisition, a FUNimation spokesperson would only say that an announcement concerning the series 'might' be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks.

The Witchblade anime series, which is a free adaptation of the Top Cow property, is produced by Gonzo (see 'Gonzo Witchblade Anime Set'), which has licensed a number of anime series to FUNimation including Samurai Seven, Speed Grapher, Basilisk, Sunabozu (Desert Punk), and Burst Angel.
